Ever wish you could sit down with writing experts and just pick their brains? Or have them tell you what’s not working and why? That’s what a coaching session with me is like. One on one, specifically designed for you. By asking you key questions about what you’re struggling with, I’ll help you uncover writing principles that make your work all it can be. After our conversation, I’ll send you notes covering what we talked about, along with any resources for further study.

Send Your Manuscript, Along With Your Questions

If you want a critique, send the first chapter of your manuscript or the section you want to focus on. If you have writer's block or don't know which direction to go, send me your manuscript and a few specific questions or issues you'd like to cover. In other words, what will success look like to you as a result of our conversation? Is your goal to figure out what happens next? To come up with a better ending? To give your villain more depth?

Schedule a Discussion Session

We'll schedule a time to discuss your project. I'll review your pages and send you a few notes beforehand about what I'd like to cover.

Practical Notes for Better Writing

After the session, I'll send you more detailed notes with examples and suggestions, and arrange a follow up, if you'd like.

Why Coaching?

First, mastering the concepts of writing early on means you will spend far less time writing this manuscript and all those that follow. Getting customized, solutions-based information from an editor at this stage helps you become more efficient and confident in your writing.

Not only that, but your editor will charge you much less since you provided a cleaner manuscript. As the Types of Editing page shows, editing is much more than correcting typos.

Editing is time consuming, and if you make the same error throughout, you could pay thousands of dollars only to be told that you should basically rewrite the whole thing--and that will eventually need editing, too!

In addition, you can get over writer's block once you know why you got stuck in the first place. Is your inciting incident in the wrong place? Are you lacking one of the fundamentals of your genre? Is your character arc more of a spike?
