Editing

Ever wish a writing expert would take an in-depth, detailed look at your writing and recommend changes that make it shine? Editing done too early can be a bit like taking a drink from a firehose, but if you’re at the tail end of your process—and by that I mean with at least four drafts and several beta readers’ comments behind you—you’re ready for editing. I’ll use Microsoft Word’s Track Changes feature to mark areas that need attention. I’ll make suggestions on word choice, check grammar, and make sure your manuscript is ready to present to an agent or submit to a contest with the goal of winning.

How Editing Works

1

Fill Out Form

The contact form will guide you through all the information I'll need from you to make coaching a success.
2

Send Your Manuscript

After we connect about your editing needs and make a specific list of what you're looking for, I'll ask to preview the manuscript. After looking it over, I'll send you an estimate. If you approve the estimate, you'll be emailed an electronic editing agreement. Once you’ve read, approved, and returned the agreement, I will send you an invoice for 1/3 of the estimate (If the work is over 150 pages), with approximate dates for progress reports for the next two portions. If it's a shorter work, I'll ask for payment in full up front.
3

Receive Your Edits

You'll receive a detailed edit with my comments and changes using the Track Changes tool in Microsoft Word, guiding you through the what and why for each suggestion.
